2012 CLC SCHOLARSHIPS!
Each year Camano Lutheran awards scholarships to students graduating from high school as well as for students continuing their education. The monies for these funds come from several sources including the Georgia & Elmer Lundstrom Scholarship Fund, the Easter Breakfast and in recent years a generous gift from the Cemetery Committee of the Church.
The committee weighs several factors in awarding the scholarships including service to the Church and the community, past academic record, the personal statement of the applicant and the overall strength of the application. While in the past the church has been able to fund each of the applicants, there is no guarantee that we will be able to continue this practice.
Application forms will be available in the Church Office and on line during the Christmas holidays and must be returned to the Church Office no later than April 10, 2011. Please note that there is a new application form for students currently enrolled in college. High School seniors should use the general scholarship application form and add the information requested on the form from the Church.
Here is what is happening in the Youth/Education World…
Sunday School
All Youth will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 9:45am each Sunday and then go to their respective areas. This month the younger youth will be having an Ephiphany Party and then learning about Abraham. The 3rd – HS Youth will be beginning their practice for the Housing Hope Concert on Sunday, March 27th.
Confirmation (6th – 8th Graders)
Classes will begin again on January 5th and continue every Wednesday at 6pm. Please get with Pastor Scott for more information.
Elementary Youth
U Elementary Retreat – This is scheduled for Friday, March 25th thru Saturday, March 26th. The cost is $30 per Youth. Registration has passed. If you didn’t get signed up and still want to, please contact Jennifer at j.satterfield@frontier.com for more information.
Middle School (MS) and High School (HS) Youth
Everyone
U The youth will be hosting/serving a Mardi Gras Dinner instead of the Valentine’s Dinner. Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 5th. Keep your eye out in January for sign-ups.
U The Youth will be performing with the Adult Choir at the Housing Hope Concert on Sunday, March 27th. Mark your calendars.
Adult Bible Study
The Tuesday evening Bible Study class will start up again in January. If you are interested, please contact Lynne Eide. The group normally meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at 7pm at CLC.
